MONTANOV™ 68 MB from Seppic is a liquid crystal emulsifier. Covered by a Mass Balance certificate, ECOCERT, Natrue and COSMOS approved, Montanov 68 MB will emulsify any type of oil easily (ester, mineral, vegetable, silicone) ideally with an oil phase of about 25%.
MONTANOV™ 68 MB is compatible with cationic ingredients, and works well over a wide pH range of 3 to 12. -
Usage rate: 1% - 5%, up to 25%
Add to heated oil phase, heating to a temperature of 76C. When combined heated oil phase and heated water phase, mix under high shear (an immersion blender will work) while warm. Once the emulsion has been formed, switch to a low shear mixer such as a hand whisk or hand mixer. It may take up to 48 hours for your lotion to fully thicken.
It has been suggested that including a fatty alcohol such as Cetyl Alcohol or Cetearyl Alcohol can help increase the forming of liquid crystals.
